Symptoms include swelling of one or more salivary glands, usually the parotid. Adults born before 1957 can be considered immune. Immunity can be proven by IgG antibodies. [Chin] "Most cases of mumps in health care personnel have been community acquired. . . . Droplet precautions are recommended for patients with mumps; such precautions should be continued for 9 days after the onset of parotitis. . . .
