SENNA/PSYLLIUM SEED - ORAL (SEN-uh/SILL-ee-um seed) COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Perdiem USES: This is a combination laxative used to treat constipation. HOW TO USE: Measure the appropriate amount, place the powder directly into your mouth and swallow. Do not chew the powder. Follow this by drinking at least 8 ounces (240 ml) of a cool liquid. Taking this product without a sufficient amount of liquid may cause choking. It is not necessary to mix this in a liquid prior to ingestion. Take this as directed. Do not increase your dose or take this more often than instructed. Do not give this medication to children less than 7 years old. SIDE EFFECTS: Stomach upset, nausea, bloating, gas or diarrhea may occur. if these effects become bothersome, inform your doctor. Notify your doctor if you develop: stomach cramps, rectal bleeding, chest pain, vomiting. This medication may cause yellow, red or brown discoloration of the urine. This effect is not harmful. Do not be alarmed. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist. PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor if you have: digestive problems, any allergies. Taking this product with an insufficient amount of liquid may cause the medication to swell and block the throat or esophagus and may lead to choking. Do not take this medication if you have trouble swallowing. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant before taking this drug. Consult with your doctor before breast-feeding. Long-term or excessive use of this can lead to dependency. Do not use this medication longer than 7 days without consulting your doctor. DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. NOTES: To maintain normal bowel habits, it is important to eat a diet high in fiber, drink plenty of water and exercise daily. MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up. STORAGE: Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C) away from heat, light and moisture. Do not store in the bathroom.
